Overview

Zenco Technical is currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join a market-leading Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation contractor involved in projects across many sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Power, Energy, Commercial, Data Centre and Petrochemical. Our client is interested in a Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to work on one of their Data Centre projects in Dublin. The successful candidate will report to the Commercial Manager, receive an excellent remuneration package and a clear path for career progression.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing contractual advice to the Project team
  • Guide and advise the Project team in all commercial matters
  • Commercial control of all subcontracts from inception to completion
  • Preparation of monthly cost reports and disseminate the resultant information appropriate to the recipient’s role and understanding
  • Validate tender prices of new projects
  • Be proactive in the commercial control of the project; keep the commercial performance of the projects under review from start to finish
  • Identify and manage the risks associated with each project
  • Offer objective and independent advice at all times
  • Ask the uncomfortable questions and tease out fact from fiction
  • Close out projects and subcontracts to be best commercial advantage of the company
  • Work with the Project teams to review the project plan, business plan and procurement plan
  • Ensure all projects are driven to provide the best value solutions and delivered on time and within budgets
  • Review the administration and all record keeping associated with each project
  • Review the project and close out report with the project manager and identify the main issues for continuous learning and improvement
  • Managing the Client and other external relationships
  • To work with the project manager and the project team to maintain excellent working relationships with the client from project start up to project completion

 Key Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline is essential
  • 8+ years relevant experience, 5+ years of this must be working on mechanical projects
  • Chartered or working towards chartership or membership of other relevant professional body is desirable
  • Experience with contractual elements is essential
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the Construction sector with M&E expertise
  • Evidence of leading projects in a client facing role
  • Data Centre experience is an advantage
