3D printing to build housing affordably and rapidly

Printing with concrete is a complicated matter. The concrete must flow fluidly enough to be extruded through the printer, it must be quick-hardening and strong enough to take the load of subsequent layers, and it must be able to bond sufficiently between those layers.

Irish Engineering Firms are looking to hire in 2021

Utility organisations such as electricity, water, gas and telecommunications companies were most optimistic, with 94pc looking to hire engineers in the year ahead. Meanwhile, the pandemic’s effect on the construction industry meant that civil and building engineers were more impacted than the average engineer, according to the report.

BAM to grow UK business despite construction arm loss

Dutch construction giant Royal BAM has committed to invest and grow its business in the UK despite set-backs last year. Announcing 2020 group results, the firm reported better trading in the second half at both its UK civils and building businesses as work and orders picked up after the first Covid lockdown.
